I'd like to volunteer in the classroom and haven't done it before.  Any comments or recommendations?

Check with the teacher and make sure she's accostumed to having volunteers in her classroom.  If she is, then you'll  have a lot of fun and contribute a tremendous amount.  If she's not, then I recommend you find a different way to volunteer.  The monthly Friday lunches are fun.

That's a good suggestion.  If you're just determined to volunteer in the classroom AND your child's teacher isn't used to having help, then suggest an activity that you'd enjoy helping out with or something where you have some expertise.  Art, recess, math .. whatever.  Also, you really have to listen to the teacher.  It's their classroom.
